The strategy aims to transform historical documents and national archives into a living, dynamic memory that contributes to building the future through various strategies, including digitisation, community awareness, and local and international partnerships. The Archives aim to become a central source of national knowledge.
Dr Ahmed Abdullah al-Buainain, stated in an interview with Qatar News Agency (QNA) that the launch of the first strategy of the National Archives of Qatar holds significant value in the Archives’ foundational project, which has been built over six years.
He added that the strategic plan of the National Archives of Qatar was built on four main references, taking into account a study of the current situation in co-operation with over 80 relevant entities in the state, as well as the national vision based on outcomes and the model built on results. He also noted the studies of friendly countries that have previously worked on similar projects, pointing out that National Archives of Qatar is now building on the foundations laid by others to reach the peak, incorporating all references to build a clear, purposeful strategy that preserves the history of Qatar and its existing documents.
