Grand Mosque introduces 24/7 smart luggage storage to ease worshipper experience
Worshipers at the Grand Mosque in Mecca can now perform their rituals unburdened by personal belongings, thanks to a new smart luggage storage service launched by the General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque.
The 24-hour service, available throughout Ramadan, provides a secure and efficient way for pilgrims to store their luggage before entering the mosque.
Six designated collection points have been set up near the main gates of the Grand Mosque, allowing worshipers to check in their belongings quickly and retrieve them with ease after completing their prayers.
The system relies on an advanced electronic tracking mechanism, where each item is assigned a QR code linked to the owner’s information. This technology ensures fast and accurate retrieval, eliminating delays and minimizing congestion around mosque entrances.
Luggage is stored on monitored shelves equipped with continuous surveillance systems, ensuring maximum security. Worshipers receive a smart bracelet with a unique tracking code when they check in their items, allowing for seamless retrieval. The storage areas are subject to periodic security checks every four hours to maintain efficiency and safety.
Located in key areas near the Mecca Library in the eastern courtyard and opposite Gate No. 64 in the western courtyard in Shobaika, the luggage storage centers are positioned for convenient access.
